# DOCUMENT 01: Privacy Policy
1. Introduction and Scope
Yugality Consultancy Services Private Limited (hereinafter referred to as 'Yugality', 'we', 'us', or 'our'), a company incorporated under the Companies Act 2013 with CIN U69100BR2026PTC081586, operates the LegalTech AI SaaS platform accessible at www.yugality.com (the 'Platform'). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal data in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ('DPDP Act'), the Information Technology Act, 2000 ('IT Act'), the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 ('SPDI Rules'), and other applicable Indian laws.
This Policy applies to all individuals ('Data Principals') who access our website, create an account, or use our products and services. By using our Platform, you consent to the practices described herein.

3. Categories of Personal Data Collected
3.1 Account and Registration Data
- Full name, professional designation (Advocate, Associate, Partner, Counsel)
- Email address, mobile number
- Bar Council registration number or enrolment certificate details
- Law firm name, office address, state of practice
- Password (stored in hashed, salted format)
3.2 Usage and Technical Data
- IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers
- Pages visited, features used, session duration, clickstream data
- API call logs, query timestamps, feature interaction data
- Error logs and crash reports for platform improvement
3.3 User-Uploaded Content
- Legal documents, contracts, briefs, pleadings, or any files uploaded for AI analysis
- Queries, prompts, and instructions submitted to the AI engine
- AI-generated outputs and any annotations or edits made by the user
3.4 Payment Data
- Billing name, GST number (for business accounts)
- Payment method details are processed by our third-party payment gateway (Razorpay) and are not stored on Yugality's servers
3.5 Communications Data
- Emails or messages sent to our support team
- Feedback, survey responses, and testimonials (with consent)
4. Purposes of Processing and Legal Basis
- Account creation and user authentication: Consent under DPDP Act 2023
- Providing contracted SaaS services (AI legal research, drafting, review): Contractual necessity
- Processing payments and invoicing: Contractual necessity / Legal obligation
- Platform security, fraud prevention, abuse detection: Legitimate use
- Improving AI model accuracy via anonymised, aggregated analytics: Legitimate use
- Sending product updates, feature announcements (opt-in): Consent
- Compliance with court orders or regulatory directives: Legal obligation
5. AI Models and Data Training
YUGALITY DOES NOT USE ANY DATA UPLOADED BY USERS — INCLUDING LEGAL DOCUMENTS, QUERIES, OR AI OUTPUTS — TO TRAIN, FINE-TUNE, OR IMPROVE ANY SHARED OR GENERAL-PURPOSE AI MODELS. All user-uploaded content is processed solely for the purpose of delivering the contracted service to that specific user account. This commitment is absolute and is reinforced in our Data Processing Agreement.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Sub-processors: AI model API providers and cloud infrastructure providers operating under contractual confidentiality and data processing obligations. A current list of sub-processors is available upon written request.
- Legal compliance: Where required by a court order, statutory authority, or law enforcement agency acting under lawful authority.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or restructuring, subject to the acquiring entity assuming equivalent data protection obligations.
7. Rights of Data Principals
Under the DPDP Act 2023, you have the following rights:
- Right to access: Request a summary of personal data we hold about you.
- Right to correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legitimate retention requirements.
- Right to grievance redressal: Lodge a complaint with our Grievance Officer (see Document 11).
- Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw consent at any time; withdrawal does not affect lawfulness of prior processing.
- Right to nominate: Nominate another individual to exercise rights on your behalf in the event of incapacity or death.
To exercise these rights, submit a written request to privacy@yugality.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained for the duration of the subscription and 3 years thereafter for compliance purposes.
- User-uploaded documents and AI outputs: Retained for the active subscription period; permanently deleted within 30 days of account termination unless legally required otherwise.
- Payment records: Retained for 8 years as required under the Income Tax Act, 1961.
- Server logs: Retained for 180 days.
9. International Data Transfers
Yugality primarily stores data on servers located in India. To the extent any data is transferred to servers located outside India (e.g., through AI model API sub-processors), such transfers are governed by contractual clauses ensuring equivalent data protection, in compliance with Section 16 of the DPDP Act 2023.
10. Security Measures
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational security measures as detailed in our Technical and Organisational Security Measures document (Document 06), including AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, role-based access controls, and regular security audits.
11. Cookies
Please refer to our Cookie Policy (Document 10) for details on our use of cookies and similar tracking technologies.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or in-app notification at least 15 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
