# DOCUMENT 08: AI Output Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
Status: Critical Liability Shield — Must be acknowledged at onboarding
1. Nature of AI-Generated Outputs
Yugality Consultancy Services Private Limited operates an artificial-intelligence-powered platform that generates legal research summaries, document analysis, contract drafts, and related outputs. ALL SUCH OUTPUTS ARE GENERATED BY MACHINE LEARNING MODELS AND ARE SUBJECT TO INHERENT LIMITATIONS. By using the Yugality platform, you irrevocably acknowledge and accept the following:
2. Not Legal Advice
OUTPUTS GENERATED BY YUGALITY'S AI ENGINE DO NOT CONSTITUTE LEGAL ADVICE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Yugality is a technology company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013. Yugality is not a law firm, is not enrolled with any Bar Council, and does not employ advocates for the purpose of providing legal advice to users. The relationship between Yugality and its users is that of technology service provider and client — not advocate and client.
3. AI Hallucinations and Inaccuracies
Large language model AI systems — including those powering the Yugality platform — are known to produce:
- Fabricated case citations: Cases with correct-sounding names, citation formats, and court names that do not exist in any law reporter.
- Misquoted statutes: Sections of Acts that exist but are quoted inaccurately, incompletely, or out of context.
- Outdated law: Legal positions that were correct at a past date but have since been overruled, amended, or superseded.
- Jurisdictional errors: Applying legal principles from one jurisdiction to a different, inapplicable jurisdiction.
- Analytical errors: Incorrect legal conclusions drawn from correctly stated facts.
4. Mandatory Verification Requirement
ALL AI-GENERATED OUTPUTS MUST BE INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED BY A QUALIFIED ADVOCATE BEFORE: (a) being cited before any court, tribunal, arbitral panel, or regulatory authority; (b) being communicated to any client as legal advice; (c) being included in any legal document filed in proceedings; or (d) being published or circulated as legal analysis.
5. Liability Exclusion
YUGALITY EXPRESSLY EXCLUDES, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE INDIAN LAW, ALL LIABILITY FOR:
- Any loss, damage, or adverse consequence arising from reliance on AI-generated outputs without independent verification by a qualified legal professional.
- Professional sanctions, disciplinary proceedings, or adverse court orders arising from unverified use of AI outputs.
- Client losses, adverse judgments, or missed limitation periods attributable to reliance on AI outputs.
- Any accuracy, completeness, or currency of AI-generated legal research.
6. Regulatory Context
The Bar Council of India and State Bar Councils are yet to issue comprehensive guidelines on the use of AI tools in legal practice. Users are advised to monitor regulatory developments and ensure their use of AI tools complies with applicable professional conduct rules as they evolve.
7. Citation Verification Tool
Yugality provides citation source links alongside AI outputs wherever possible to assist in verification. However, the presence of a source link does not guarantee the accuracy of the AI's characterisation of that source. Users must independently access and read cited authorities.
